As a child golf was one of the sports that I had no interest in. Years later I have a greater appreciation and respect for the game and the First Tee program. I have seen how it has positively reinforces strong core values in him such as confidence, honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, etc. Recently he played 18 holes with his Assistant Golf coach(First Tee, Bing Maloney), Marsalis Smith. Marsalis’s former Assistant Coach from Kennedy High, Julius Arterberry also joined them for the round. It was great to see them play and encourage each other. Seeing Coach Marsalis motivating my son gives me something to look forward to since he too wants to be assistant coach for the First Tee as well before he goes to college. And its nice to know my son is learning a skill set that will last him a life time. I love the First Tee for everything that they do to prepare young golfers for the real world!!!

Jered and Kylie’s Wedding
I traveled to Pollock Pines recently to photograph some wonderful memories for Kylie and Jered Greninger’s wedding. While it rained a little I still captured some lovely images of the bride and the groom in literally five minutes. I still completed the most important task which was getting all the images that the Bride and Groom wanted. It was a beautiful wedding. Kylie’s Aunt Louise Mitchell officiated the ceremony for the young couple. It was amazing to see the family unity. Everyone was quite emotional including the Groom. Very sweet!!! Congratulations Kylie and Jered!!
8th Annual Walk to Remember
This year both my son and I had the pleasure to create beautiful memories for the Hall Family and other families whose loved ones have died while serving and protecting their country. The Walk also also honors the families of loved ones who are still serving and protecting the United States. In addition to the Hall family being important to us this event is special to us since my father has served in the army for over 20 years. We are blessed to be apart of this amazing and touching event.

Event : Run 4 the Hunger
I recently had the opportunity to work with Dianne Hollingshead (from the Elk Grove Soroptimists) on her event Run 4 the Hunger. Not only was the event fun but it was positive in its efforts of raising money to feed many people. There were many venders who were there to support the event. My favorite part of the event was watching the children run their own race! It was wonderful to see the little ones putting their playtime on hold to taking time away from playing run for a worthy cause. The run with the adults was a joy to watch also.
Lifestyle Portraits with Michie Dawn Kuratomi at the Orchards
Had an Awesome lifestyle portrait shoot with the beautiful, Ms. Michie Dawn Kuratomi. Ms. Kuratomi. is a “Jackie” of so many trades. In addition to her day job as a Audiovisual Production & Maintenance Technician she loves to both model and spend her spare time at her parent’s orchard. We spent the session in different areas of the orchard. First we started at the strawberry patch. My son who was eager to assist us for the shoot, especially enjoyed this part the most since he ate many strawberries. Michie then guided us to the treehouse. It was entertaining to watch her teach my son how to manage the climb into a tree that was difficult for him to climb. On our way through the orchard we passed the bee hives. Michie and I then stopped by the fruit stand to capture some awesome shots with the natural light that was coming in. Afterwards we went back to the strawberry patch before sunset. The light was amazing on Michie. I must share that I have shot Ms. Kuratomi. for various other shoots that required her to dress up more. For this particular shoot I wanted to show her in her environmental being as natural as she wanted to be!
Sacramento Black Book Fair
Both my 10 year old and I had the opportunity to attend this amazing event called the Sacramento Black Book Fair in the the heart of the Historic Oak Park. The event started at the Women’s Civic Center. There was a children’s parade that travel throughout the neighborhood. The parade ended in the backyard of the Art Gallery called the Brickhouse. There were many activities for both the kids and their parents/guardians to enjoy. Ms. Terris Mcmahon Grimes spoke about her books at the Guild Theatre and Ms. Lillian Skelter Fisher lead a discussion on her book, “Aunt T and the Halloween Baby” at Underground Books.
From Behind the Scenes to the Main Subject
Awesome session with Harold R. Williams Jr. Mr. Williams is an aspiring journalist who is pursuing his 4 year degree at Sacramento State University in Communication Studies. The goal of the session was to create several professional profile images. Williams shared with me that he has been so busy with a writing or being behind the camera he does not have any update portraits of him. In addition to that, he has no images with out his glasses.
